Why I’m Returning to Women’s Health and Why It Matters Now
When I began my medical career more than 30 years ago, I was helping women navigate perimenopause and menopause with the best tools and evidence available. Then the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) study hit, and everything stopped.
Practically overnight, hormone therapy was labeled dangerous. Women were told to discontinue treatment. Physicians were warned off prescribing. And a single flawed conclusion reshaped care for an entire generation.
Women suffered. Physicians backed away. And a vital pillar of women’s health disappeared.
Today we know better and it’s time to correct course.
A Turning Point That Changed My Trajectory
Two years later, everything changed again. I had a chance meeting with Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn, the Nobel Prize–winning scientist who discovered telomeres and telomerase, the biological markers that influence cellular aging.
She encouraged me to stay the course in supporting women with hormone therapy. Her data showed that when women discontinued HRT, their cellular aging accelerated, inflammation increased, and major health risks worsened.
What she described aligned exactly with what I was seeing clinically over the past two decades. It validated everything I already sensed:
Hormones, when prescribed safely and appropriately, can be profoundly protective.
That moment ultimately shaped the next chapter of my work and led to my first book, Lifelines: Unlocking the Secrets of Your Telomeres for a Longer, Healthier Life, in 2015, where I first shared the connection between hormonal health, cellular aging, and longevity.
The Last 20 Years: I Never Left Women’s Health
For the past two decades, I continued prescribing estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, and related hormone therapies but always with guardrails, diagnostic rigor, and personalized nuance.
For many women, hormones were essential.
For others, lifestyle changes, metabolic support, sleep strategy, stress management, and targeted supplementation created the reset they needed.
During this period, I expanded into:
- longevity medicine
- regenerative medicine
- metabolic and cognitive performance
- executive health
caring for both men and women who needed peak vitality to thrive.
I never left women’s health. I simply widened my scope so I could help more people.
The Pendulum Has Finally Shifted — but New Risks Have Emerged
After two decades of re-education, the message is clear:
Hormones, when prescribed safely and appropriately, can be profoHormone therapy can be safe, effective, and life-changing only when prescribed by experts.undly protective.
But today’s landscape has introduced a different kind of danger.
Women are overwhelmed and underserved and too often are turning to:
- influencers
- weekend-trained “hormone experts”
- virtual-only programs
- online pharmacies
- protocol-based care with no nuance
- practitioners with minimal training
- services lacking integration or guardrails
This fragmentation puts women at risk.
Women deserve real expertise — not guesswork.
Why I’m Expanding Women’s Health Programs at Bespoke
With more than 30 years of experience in longevity, regenerative medicine, and personalized care, I am expanding the programs women need most so they can access safe, coordinated, clinically-led support.
Our Expanded Programs:
These programs are designed to meet women exactly where they are in perimenopause, menopause, or midlife metabolic shifts with diagnostic intelligence and integrated care.
Our Clinical Team Strengthened for Women’s Health
• Dr. Monique Mazzuca, MD Women’s health & regenerative aesthetic medicine
• Dr. Karlee Handy, ND Senior naturopathic doctor in longevity & menopause
• Dr. Tiffany Tsilker, ND Metabolic & hormone-focused women’s health
• Alessia Germinario Regenerative skin & scalp medical aesthetician
Together, we continue caring for both men and women, but I am intentionally widening access for women because an entire generation was denied safe, evidence-based hormone support.
Expanding Access
Women will soon be able to reach us through:
- in-clinic appointments
- virtual consultations
- corporate wellness partnerships
- and in 2026, our at-home saliva hormone testing program
This is not a pivot. This is a return to the work that began my career and has since been strengthened by decades of longevity, functional, metabolic, and regenerative medicine.
My Commitment
Women deserve the care they were denied 20 years ago. My patients who stayed supported benefited from safe, personalized, well-governed hormone care.
Today, with decades of experience and hard-won wisdom, I’m passing this knowledge to a new generation of clinicians — so the guardrails, nuance, and clinical judgment that kept women safe then will continue to protect women now.
I remain committed to this work — with the experience, science, and team to deliver it the way it should have always been delivered.
